Wychwood Walled Mat Olive

Wychwood Walled Mat Olive

The Wychwood Walled Mat Olive is a premium carp unhooking mat designed to provide maximum fish protection during unhooking, weighing and photography. Combining fish-friendly materials with an impressive 60mm foam construction and protective raised walls, it provides a secure and heavily padded area for handling carp on the bank.

Designed to offer the best of both worlds, the Wychwood Walled Mat isn't limited to use as a conventional walled cradle. The removable padded inner section can be taken out and used independently as a lightweight stalking-style unhooking mat, making the system equally suitable for longer sessions and more mobile fishing.

Heavy-duty materials protect the mat against regular bankside wear, while the easy-clean fish-friendly surface makes it practical after handling wet or muddy fish. A padded kneeling area provides additional comfort when unhooking and photographing captures.

A secure Velcro-down fish cover provides additional protection while a carp is positioned on the mat, helping create a comprehensive fish-care system suitable for handling larger specimens.

60mm Foam Protection

Fish protection is at the heart of the Wychwood Walled Mat, with an impressive 60mm foam construction providing substantial cushioning between your catch and the ground.

The thick foam helps provide a supportive surface when handling fish during unhooking and photography, making the mat particularly well suited to larger carp.

This substantial padding provides the confidence required when handling valuable captures on harder or uneven banks.

Protective Walled Design

The raised wall construction provides an additional level of protection around the fish.

Carp can move suddenly when positioned on an unhooking mat, and the surrounding walls help create a more contained handling area.

This makes the Wychwood Walled Mat a comprehensive fish-care solution for anglers who want the additional security of a walled unhooking system.

Removable Stalking Mat

One of the most useful features is the removable inner section.

Rather than requiring the complete walled system on every session, the padded inner can be removed and used independently as a more conventional stalking-style unhooking mat.

This provides a lighter and less bulky option when travelling with minimal tackle or fishing areas where available space is restricted.

Two Mats in One

The removable design effectively provides two different fish-care configurations within a single system.

For longer sessions or when maximum protection is required, the complete walled mat can be used.

For stalking, short sessions and mobile fishing, the inner can be removed and carried as a standalone mat.

This versatility makes the Wychwood Walled Mat suitable for a wide range of carp fishing situations.

Fish-Friendly Materials

The mat is constructed using fish-friendly materials designed specifically for safe handling.

The surface is also easy to clean, allowing slime, mud and other bankside debris to be removed after use.

Keeping fish-care equipment clean is particularly important when it is regularly coming into direct contact with different captures.

Heavy-Duty Construction

The outer sections use heavy-duty materials to help protect the mat against regular bankside wear.

Unhooking mats are routinely placed on gravel, mud, grass and uneven ground, so additional durability helps ensure the system remains dependable throughout repeated use.

Padded Kneeling Area

A dedicated padded kneeling area provides additional comfort for the angler while unhooking and preparing fish for photography.

This is a particularly useful detail during longer fish-care routines or when dealing with harder banks where kneeling directly on the ground can quickly become uncomfortable.

Velcro-Down Fish Cover

An integrated Velcro-down fish cover provides an additional level of protection when a carp is positioned inside the mat.

The cover can be secured over the fish when required, helping keep the carp safely contained while tackle or photography equipment is being prepared.

Ideal for Unhooking & Photography

The combination of thick padding, protective walls and a fish-friendly surface makes the mat well suited to the complete fish-handling process.

It provides a dedicated area for safely unhooking your capture before preparing the fish for weighing or photography.

The padded kneeling area also makes it more comfortable when positioning yourself alongside a fish for bank-side photographs.

Why Choose the Wychwood Walled Mat Olive?

The Wychwood Walled Mat Olive combines the protection of a substantial walled carp mat with the versatility of a removable stalking mat.

Its 60mm foam construction provides excellent cushioning, while the surrounding walls and Velcro-down fish cover create a secure area for handling larger specimens.

The ability to remove the inner section makes the system particularly versatile. Anglers can use the complete mat when maximum protection is required or take the inner mat alone when stalking and travelling light.

Combined with heavy-duty construction, easy-clean fish-friendly materials and a padded kneeling area, it's an excellent choice for anglers looking for a versatile fish-care system capable of adapting to different styles of carp fishing.
