Compact Design with Big-Reel Casting Performance

One of the defining characteristics of the Wychwood Extricator 5000 FD is its ability to deliver the casting benefits of a larger spool without the bulk of a conventional big pit reel.

The carefully considered spool design and precise line lay help line leave the spool efficiently during casting, making it an excellent choice for anglers who require dependable casting performance from a compact reel.

This makes the Extricator particularly suitable for shorter carp rods, mobile fishing setups and situations where a large reel would feel unnecessarily cumbersome.

Premium Magnesium Body

The reel features a magnesium body, providing a strong and lightweight foundation for its internal components.

Magnesium construction helps maintain a compact, manageable reel while delivering the rigidity required for dependable operation.

For anglers who regularly move between swims or spend long periods stalking fish, the compact design is a particularly welcome feature.

Micro-Pitch Multi-Disc Front Drag

The micro-pitch, multi-disc front drag system is one of the Extricator 5000 FD's most impressive features.

Designed to deliver smooth, precise adjustment, the drag allows anglers to move quickly between low spool tension and a suitable fighting setting.

With approximately one complete turn of the drag control, the reel transitions from a low-tension setting to a fighting drag.

This rapid adjustment is particularly useful when fishing close to the rods or responding to powerful runs, where quick control of line tension can be essential.

Exceptionally Smooth Drag Performance

Smooth drag performance is vital when playing carp and other hard-fighting fish.

The Extricator's multi-disc drag system is designed to release line progressively under pressure, helping anglers maintain control throughout the fight.

This is particularly beneficial when using lighter lines or fishing at close range, where sudden changes in pressure can place additional strain on tackle.

Large Aluminium Spool & Precise Line Lay

The aluminium spool provides a durable foundation for reliable line storage and casting.

Its generous diameter, combined with the reel's precise line lay, helps support smooth line release during casting.

This allows anglers to benefit from the advantages of a larger spool while retaining the convenience of a compact 5000-size reel.

Anti-Twist Line Roller

The reel incorporates an anti-twist line roller, designed to help minimise unwanted line twist during retrieval.

Effective line management is particularly important when repeatedly casting and retrieving, especially during surface fishing and mobile stalking sessions.

The anti-twist roller works alongside the precise line lay to help maintain consistent reel performance.

Excellent Cranking Power

Despite its compact dimensions, the Wychwood Extricator 5000 FD offers impressive cranking power.

This makes it suitable for a wide range of specialist fishing applications, providing dependable retrieval performance when bringing in rigs, leads and fish.

The smooth operation contributes to a refined feel, making the reel enjoyable to use throughout extended fishing sessions.

Perfect for Stalking Carp

The compact design makes the Extricator 5000 FD particularly well suited to stalking carp.

When moving between swims or fishing tight margins, a balanced reel setup can make a significant difference to comfort and practicality.

Paired with a suitable shorter stalking rod, the Extricator provides an excellent combination of compact dimensions, reliable drag performance and convenient line capacity.

Ideal for Surface Fishing

The Wychwood Extricator is also an excellent choice for surface fishing, where repeated casting and accurate bait placement are often required.

Its large spool and precise line lay support efficient casting, while the responsive front drag helps anglers maintain control when playing carp on surface tackle.

The compact body also makes it comfortable to use during active, mobile fishing sessions.

Designed to Complement Wychwood Extricator Rods

The Extricator 5000 FD Reel has been developed as a natural partner to the Wychwood Extricator range of rods.

Its compact proportions and understated styling complement the shorter, specialist nature of these rods.

For anglers looking to build a coordinated stalking or specialist fishing setup, the Extricator reel provides an attractive and practical option.

Classic Retro Styling

Alongside its impressive performance, the Wychwood Extricator 5000 FD features distinctive retro-inspired styling.

The combination of a matte black magnesium body, chrome-coloured aluminium spool and dark wooden handle creates a timeless appearance.

This understated design works particularly well with traditional cork-handled rods and modern specialist carp fishing setups alike.

Versatile Line Capacity

Despite its compact dimensions, the Extricator 5000 FD offers generous line capacity.

The spool accommodates:

• 0.28mm Line: 300m

• 0.30mm Line: 237m

• 0.35mm Line: 173m

This provides flexibility when selecting suitable mainline diameters for different fishing situations.

Whether stalking carp at close range or fishing at moderate distances, the available capacities make the reel a versatile option.

Durable Construction & Dependable Performance

Wychwood has developed the Extricator 5000 FD with durability in mind.

The reel has been tested under demanding conditions, with its robust magnesium body and carefully selected components designed to provide dependable long-term performance.

For anglers seeking a compact reel capable of regular use, the Extricator offers an appealing combination of strength, smoothness and value.
