Free Spirit Pike Tamer 12ft Big Bait Rod | Full Cork

Free Spirit Pike Tamer 12ft Big Bait Rod | Full Cork

The Free Spirit Pike Tamer 12ft Big Bait Rod | Full Cork is a powerful, purpose-designed pike fishing rod developed for anglers who demand exceptional casting performance, strength and reliability when fishing with larger deadbaits. Featuring an approximate 3.75lb test curve, an elegant full cork handle and upgraded four-leg cradle-style guides, this latest generation Pike Tamer combines traditional styling with modern rod-building technology.

Part of the updated Free Spirit Pike Tamer range, the Big Bait model retains the understated blank finish that made the original series so popular, while introducing a host of refinements designed to improve both performance and appearance.

The new specification includes a beautifully finished full cork handle, black DPS-style reel seat, black Acetal fittings and stronger four-leg cradle-style guides, complemented by an anti-frap tip guide to help reduce line tangles during casting.

With its powerful 12ft blank and approximately 3.75lb test curve, the Big Bait model is designed to handle the majority of demanding pike fishing situations. Whether you're casting half a mackerel to a distant feature or sending a smelt out across open water, this rod offers the power required for confident bait placement.

Positioned above the Pike Tamer Multi Range model in terms of power, the Big Bait is particularly suited to anglers using heavier deadbaits and requiring additional casting strength. The Multi Range features a softer, more forgiving tip suited to delicate presentations with softer deadbaits or livebaits, whereas the Big Bait offers a more powerful action for demanding applications.

For serious predator anglers looking for a versatile, powerful and beautifully finished pike rod, the Free Spirit Pike Tamer 12ft Big Bait Rod is an outstanding choice.

Powerful 3.75lb Test Curve

At the heart of the Free Spirit Pike Tamer 12ft Big Bait Rod is its powerful blank, featuring an approximate 3.75lb test curve.

Designed for anglers fishing with larger deadbaits, the rod offers the strength required to cast substantial baits with confidence.

Whether you're using half mackerel, smelt or other suitable deadbaits, the powerful action makes it an excellent choice for demanding pike fishing situations.

The additional power is particularly useful when targeting distant features or fishing larger waters where accurate bait placement is important.

Designed for Big Bait Pike Fishing

As its name suggests, the Pike Tamer Big Bait has been developed specifically for anglers who regularly fish with larger deadbaits.

The powerful blank is well suited to casting heavier bait presentations, providing the strength required for effective casting.

From placing half a mackerel approximately 50 yards out to casting a smelt towards distant holding areas, the Big Bait model provides the capability required for a wide variety of predator fishing applications.

Actual casting distances will depend on bait weight, rig configuration, line choice and casting technique.

Traditional Full Cork Handle

The latest Pike Tamer series introduces a beautifully finished full cork handle, giving the rod a timeless appearance.

The traditional cork finish complements the understated blank, creating a clean and classic design that will appeal to anglers who appreciate premium rod aesthetics.

Alongside its visual appeal, the full cork handle provides a comfortable gripping surface during casting and fish playing.

Black DPS-Style Reel Seat

The updated Pike Tamer Big Bait features a black DPS-style reel seat, providing a secure mounting point for your chosen pike fishing reel.

The black finish complements the understated blank and traditional cork handle, creating a coordinated appearance throughout the rod.

Upgraded Four-Leg Cradle-Style Guides

One of the key improvements to the latest Pike Tamer series is the introduction of stronger four-leg cradle-style guides.

These upgraded guides are designed to provide robust line guidance, making them particularly suitable for the demands of powerful predator fishing rods.

The reinforced construction complements the Big Bait's powerful blank and helps deliver dependable performance during regular use.

Anti-Frap Tip Guide

The rod incorporates an anti-frap tip guide, designed to help reduce the risk of line wrapping around the tip during casting.

This is particularly useful when making repeated casts with larger deadbaits, where smooth line flow and reliable tackle performance are essential.

The anti-frap design is a welcome addition to the updated Pike Tamer range.

Premium Black Acetal Fittings

The latest Pike Tamer series features black Acetal fittings, providing a durable and understated finishing touch.

These components complement the black reel seat and guide fittings, helping create a clean, coordinated appearance.

Combined with the full cork handle, the result is a stylish specialist pike rod that maintains the traditional character of the original series.

Big Bait vs Multi Range

The Free Spirit Pike Tamer Big Bait offers a more powerful action than the Pike Tamer Multi Range model.

The Multi Range features a softer, more forgiving tip, making it particularly suitable for softer deadbaits or livebait presentations where additional sensitivity and cushioning are beneficial.

By comparison, the Big Bait's approximately 3.75lb test curve provides the extra power required for casting heavier deadbaits and tackling more demanding fishing situations.

For anglers who regularly use substantial baits or require additional casting strength, the Big Bait is the more appropriate choice.

Ideal for Larger Waters & Distant Features

The combination of a 12ft length and powerful blank makes the Pike Tamer Big Bait an excellent option for anglers fishing larger lakes, reservoirs and other suitable pike venues.

Its casting capability allows anglers to position heavier deadbait rigs at distance, helping reach areas that may be difficult to approach with lighter rods.

The powerful action also makes it a versatile choice for anglers who encounter a variety of fishing conditions throughout the season.

Understated Free Spirit Styling

Free Spirit has retained the understated blank appearance associated with the original Pike Tamer range.

The combination of a clean blank finish, full cork handle, black DPS-style reel seat and black Acetal fittings creates a premium-looking rod without unnecessary decoration.

It's an excellent choice for predator anglers who appreciate traditional styling and practical performance.
