My no 1 tip for winter carp fishing is a rig thats ideal for a single hook bait rig for casting at showing or bubbling fish. The components are Mouth Trap from Korda, a Fox size 7 straight pointed hook with an out-turned eye, the putty sinks everything down, make sure you use the right amount of putty so the bait sinks very slowly, and then for the boom section I've got Korda IQ2  and then a boom head to kick the rig out. I've used this rig to great success recently with this lovely 30lb mirror I caught, it works a treat on venues like Linear Fisheries.
