On Sunday 31st July Bathampton Angling Association has teamed up with the Enviroment Agency to host a match, with a £1500 prize fund, on the Bristol Avon at Newbridge and Saltford.
The match is open everyone and 1st prize is £500, 2nd £400, 3rd £300, 4th £200 and £100 for fifth.
There will be optional pools on the day as well.
The Enviroment Agency has a duty to survey fish populations and manage fisheries for anglers. The lower Avon is too deep and wide to survey using other techniques such as electro fishing. Anglers catches will be recorded and measured to form a survey of the state of the fishery.
